PM accepts Sonia's resignation as NAC Chairperson

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today accepted the resignation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi as Chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC).

The announcement was made by Dr Sanjaya Baru, Media Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had accepted Ms Gandhi's resignation as an MP.

Ms Gandhi's move had come in the wake of the opposition demand for her disqualification as an MP for holding an office of profit in the form of NAC chief.
