Pearl Academy of Fashion launches Chennai campus
Chennai, Mar 23 (UNI) Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF), a premier fashion and textile institute, today launched its new campus here.
PAF Group Director A K G Nair told reporters here it chalked out an ambitious expansion plan to open ten new centres in India by 2008. In view of Chennai's tremendous potential and strategic location, the company decided to set up its first campus in South India here.
The Academy would offer PG diplomas in fashion merchandise, garment manufacturing and textile design for a duration of two years each and UG BA (Hons) Degree courses in fashion design, fashion merchandising and production for a duration of four years.
He said the southern textile industry was expected to grow by ten to 12 per cent in 2005-06 and a trend towards capacity expansion and backward integration was predominant as per industry sources.
As paucity of trained professionals would continue to be an area of great concern for the state's textile sector, PAF would step in to meet the demand for trained professional both for the growing fashion and retail industries of the region, Mr Nair said.
