Pacheco demands resignation of AIFF office bearers
Panaji, Mar 23 (UNI) Fransa Pax chairman Francisco ( Micky) Pacheco today disbanded his club in protest against the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Appeals Committee awarding three points to Air India despite skipping their National League replay match against the Goan side.
Talking to reporters here after disbanding the club, Pacheco demanded the resignation of the entire office-bearers of the AIFF including its president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi.
Pacheco said he could consider continuing the club if AIFF office-bearers quit and a new body takes over.
Asked about the future of his players, Pacheco said that he could not maintain his contract in view of the circumstances and the players were free to join any club.
He, however, said that players' contract would be honoured till March 22 and all their dues would be cleared within a week.
''My club is officially closed from today and I will not make any correspondence with the AIFF,'' he said.
On February 24, Air India had filed a protest against AIFF's decision to re-play the match with Fransa after the Goan side refused to turn up for the originally scheduled February 3 game, protesting 'poor' refereeing in their earlier match against Mahindra United.
The AIFF then rescheduled the match for March 2, but again Air India protested, calling the decision unfair and sent its players on leave.
