MP Speaker directs govt to get central circular examined
Bhopal, Mar 23 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today directed the government to get a central circular -- permitting tribals to manufacture and store liquor -- examined and abrogated if possible.
Raising the issue during question hour, tribal legislator Dev Singh Saiyam said the provision must be abrogated, as it obstructed development of tribals.
However, Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur said tribals had been allowed to manufacture and store liquor in view of their traditions, as per a circular issued by the Centre.
He added that the state government could not alter the rule.
On request by the members, the Speaker said the government could get the circular examined and the provision abrogated if possible.
During question hour, Mr K P Singh (Congress) demanded removal of Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Directorate accountant Mridul Muchrikar for alleged irregularities committed by her.
However, Mr Gaur denied that Ms Muchrikar had committed irregularities and said there was no need to remove her.
