MindTree develops most advanced satellite handset

Bangalore, Mar 23: The city-based global IT and R and D services company, MindTree Consulting, has developed an advanced satellite handset for users of Inmarsat services, both on land and at sea.

Developed in close association with Nera SatCom, the handset was designed to work with Nera's latest satellite terminal, the Nera WorldPro 1000. However, it was backward, compatible with older terminals, a Mindtree Consulting release here said today.

MindTree played the role of a development partner for Nera, taking the responsibility of developing major parts of the electronics (hardware) and software for the handset.

Hardware design included component selection, circuit design and board layout. As part of the software development, MindTree incorporated its patented Echo Cancellation technology, which allowed the Nera WorldSet to be used in speaker mode without the interference of external noise.

MindTree ensured quality assurance of the product, manufactured prototypes of the phone and supported Nera during the final production.

''MindTree is proud to showcase its end-to-end product realization capabilities through the successful release of the Nera WorldSet,'' the release said, quoting MindTree Consulting Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, R and D Services, Vinod Deshmukh.

''Outsourced product engineering with partners is a futuristic step. Nera SatCom has taken this strategic decision and placed its faith in MindTree,'' he added.
