KMC octroi staff seizes 28 lakh gold ornaments
Kolhapur, Mar 23 (UNI) The special squad of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) octroi department today seized gold ornaments worth about Rs 28 lakh from a person, who was trying to bring the ornaments into the city by evading the duty.
KMC sources said that Daulat Phadtare, who was travelling by a private luxury bus disembarked before an octroi check post and took an autorickshaw for Ujalaiwadi, from where he wanted to take a State Transport bus to enter into the city.
The squad closely monitored his movements and pursued him, and intercepted the bus. In a search operation, they found different types of gold ornaments worth about Rs 28 lakh, the sources added.
