India to Host XVI Asia Pacific Military Medicine Conference

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Continuing a pan-Asia Pacific dialogue, military medical professionals from 24 countries in the region will gather in the capital next week to promote cooperation and fraternity and advancement of health-care facilities in their respective services.

Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services Surgeon Vice Admiral VK Singh today told mediapersons here that the Fifteenth Asia Pacific Military Medicine Conference (APMMC) -- part of a continuing series of conferences for military medical professionals in the South East Asian and Pacific region -- will have as its theme 'Military Medicine - Striving for Excellence'.

About 200 foreign and 200 Indian delegates attending will discuss 257-odd papers presented during the five-day Conference.

The Indian delegates will comprise participants from the World Health Organisation, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Defence Institute of Physiological and Allied Sciences and Indian Council of Medical Research.

APMMC is hosted by one nation from the Asia pacific Zone every year. Last year, it was held in Hanoi, Vietnam and the host country next year is the Phillippines.
