HP to regularize services of contract doctors, says CM

Shimla, Mar 23 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said services of doctors appointed on contract in various state government hospitals will be regularised in a phased manner.

''The services of the doctors fulfilling eligibility criteria will be regularized,'' he said, while talking to the staff of the Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services College (MGMSC) at Khaneri in Rampur Bushehr of the district.

Mr Singh said the government would also set up a trauma centre at the MGMSC to provide services to the entire area and Kinnuar district.

The government has also taken a policy decision to recruit bonafide Himachalis who had passed out from state medical colleges first and later those from colleges outside the state later.

The government is committed to strengthen the existing health services in the state for which all functional posts are being filled up, he said.

The Chief Minister said the government would create 35,000 additional jobs in the next financial year and majority of these would be in medical and education department besides public utility services.
