HC dismisses PIL for CBI probe into irregularities in water pact

Kochi, Mar 23 (UNI) A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court today dismissed as withdrawn a writ petition seeking CBI enquiry into the alleged irregularities in the agreement between Kerala and Tamil Nadu governments for sharing waters from Mullapperiyar, Parambikkulam - Aliyar dams.

When the PIL filed by P L Jacob, Chalakkudy, came up for consideration, the Bench comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice J B Koshy made adverse comments regarding the maintainability of the PIL on interstate dispute.

Following this the petitioner sought permission to withdraw the petition and the Court allowed the same without examining the merits of the allegations.

The Bench made it clear that the petitioner is at liberty to move appropriate forum for the redressal of the grievance highlighted in the petition.
