Written by: Staff

Panaji, Mar 23 (UNI) The Goa government has sought Rs one crore assistance from the Centre, under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (Universal Education Mission), to undertake repairs of the badly damaged school buildings.

The repairs of 90 out of the 211 primary school buildings had been completed, while administrative approvals for 46 buildings had been given. The approval was pending in case of 62 buildings from the public works department.

The Minister was, however, grilled by the opposition for inordinate delay and lack of concern on the issue, when he asked former chief minister Manohar Parrikar what the latter had done during his four year rule.
