Folklore Academy to bestow awards

Kozhikode, Mar 23 (UNI) The Kerala Folklore Academy will present fellowships and awards to 34 eminent artistes of various disciplines at a function here on March 25.

Academy chairman Mohammad Ahammed informed reporters here that Mayicha Govindan, Bhawani Premnath and V Balan had won fellowships while M V Kannan Manakkadan, Kalanilayam N K Nair and Thaikkadavan Narayana Panickker were among those who won awards.

Eminent Kathakali exponent Chemencheri Kunhiraman Nair would present the awards, he said.

The academy will also felicitate 13 well-known artistes, including Mr Nair, for their outstanding contribution to the field, he added.
