New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Protesting against booing of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar by spectators at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium on March 19 following his dismissal in the third test match between India and England, filmamker Champak Banerjee has said a player of Tendulkar's stature needed to be accorded due respect otherwise he too would be ''booted out of the Indian team by sports politics, in the same manner as former captain Sourav Ganguly".

''I want to remind that the same people had given Tendulkar a "demi-God" status, thanks to the scintillating performances they were treated by him in the near past,''said Mr Banerjee, whose documentary feature 'Journey to Goa' was screened at the International Film Festival at Goa last year.

Talking to UNI, the filmmaker, whose projects in the pipeline include 'Kashish-A Passion of Love', starring Kunal Kapoor (of 'Rang De Basanti' fame) and former Miss India Universe Tanushree Dutta and a film production 'Judgement', starring superstar Amitabh Bachchan, under consideration by the A B Corp Ltd, said,''the respect for the Master Blaster is in no way lessened by one or two miniscule performances. Players like Sachin Tendulkar deserve respect otherwise the day is not far when he too will be booted out of the team by sports politics , in the manner in which other star cricketer Sourav Ganguly was.'' ''So at least save Sachin and call Sourav to save Indian cricket,''he said.
