Fee structure: K'taka HC orders issuance of notices

Bangalore, Mar 23 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today ordered issuance of notices to the state government, Director of Medical Education and the Fee Fixation Committee on a writ petition challenging the fee structure fixed by the Committee for professional courses.

The petitioner, KLE Society Belgaum, running the Jawarharlal Nehru Medical College, contended that the fee structure was extremely low and unrealistic and said the management could not run the college and hospital with the rates fixed by the Committee.

It sought a direction to the Committee to refix the rates, not only for 2005-06, but also for 2006-07.

The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Mr Justice V G Sabahit, admitted the petition and ordered issuance of notices.
