Court orders fresh HIV test of Telgi's blood
Pune, Mar 23 (UNI) A special court today directed Yerwada Jail authorities to produce the latest HIV test report of Abdul Karim Telgi, the kingpin of the mutlicrore rupee fake stamp paper scam.
Telgi, who is HIV positive, had been admitted in the Government-run Sassoon hospital on February 14 after complaining of chest pain.
When the hospital reported higher level of the dreaded virus in his blood sample, Telgi expressed his doubts and requested the jail authorities to get a fresh test conducted by National Aids Research Institute (NARI) which during an earlier test had showed lessor count of the virus than given recently by Sassoon hospital.
Telgi, through his lawyer Milind Pawar today filed an application before the MCOCA court here, alleging some people were trying to see him dead earlier than expected. He pleaded for a team of expert doctors to examine him in the jail and take fresh blood sample for tests to find out the gravity of his disease.
The judge directed the jail officials to produce the Telgi's latest blood sample report by March 28.
