Brown's late lunge earns 200m gold

MELBOURNE, Mar 23 (Reuters) Jamaica's Omar Brown won the men's 200 metres Commonwealth Games final today, edging out Mauritian Stephan Buckland with a desperate lunge at the line.

Both men were given the same time of 20.47 seconds, but Brown was awarded the gold medal when a photo-finish revealed the Jamaican had finished in front by the narrowest of margins.

Brown's compatriot Chris Williams took the bronze in 20.52.

Buckland, who came fifth at last year's world championships, ran a strong bend to storm into the lead before Brown made his decisive move over the last 50 metres.
