As many as 940 money lenders arrested

Mumbai, Mar 23 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said that 940 money lenders, who were charging a higher rate of interest than cooperative banks, have been arrested so for in the state.

Replying to a question by Mr Sharad Patil (JD-S) and Jayant Patil (PWP) Mr Patil said the action against money lenders would continue, adding that the action of returning the seized material from the money lenders is also going on.

Replying to another question by Sanjivani Aikar (independent)and Kanta Nalavade (BJP), he agreed to the demand of opposition to conduct an inquiry of the owner of Baba International hotel again in connection with the rape of South African model by two persons.
