AICC office -bearers hail Sonia's stand

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) AICC office-bearers met at the party headquarters here this evening to take stock of the situation arising out of the resignation of Congress President Sonia Gandhi from the Lok Sabha membership and the chairmanship of the National Advisory Council.

The office-bearers who included AICC Treasurer Moti Lal Vora, hailed the stand taken by the Congress President to uphold principles of democracy and probity in public life.

They noted that Mrs Gandhi has never craved for any position in power. She has been active in public life to uphold the principles of secularism, the AICC office-bearers added.

Those present at the meeting expressed the view that they were proud of the stand taken by her in resigning as MP and NAC Chairperson. She has always upheld high principles and ideals of service to the people, they said.

No formal resolution was passed in the meeting, which lasted half an hour, according to the sources.
