24-hours operation at Calicut Airport by August

Kozhikode, Mar 23 (UNI) The Calicut International Airport at Karippur near here will start round-the-clock operations by August, Director R Veeraswamy said The airport, which got international status recently, will have 24-hour facility for landing, take-off and refuelling services with the completion of a new terminal by July, he said, participating in a discussion organised by Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry last evening.

At present, the airport functioned between 0530 hrs to 1030 hrs except during Haj seasons.

He said an additional parking area, with a capacity for 800 cars, would also be ready by July.

Managers of Air India, Indian Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines Sunil Deshmukh, Selva Girija and Afsal Abdul Rasheed respectively, also participated in the discussions.
