13 convicted for life in murder case

Bangalore, Mar 23: Third Additional Sessions Court, Tumkur has convicted 13 persons to life imprisonment in connection with a murder at Bettahalli in Kunigal taluk of Tumkur district.

A statement by the Director General of Police said here yesterday that the 13 accused had assaulted Venkatswamy with machus and clubs in 1994. The victim died on the spot, it said.

The murder had taken place on account of political enemity between the accused and the deceased, it said adding that the case was reffered to COD.

After an elaborate trial before the Additional Sessions Court, all the 13 accused had been convicted on Tuesday for various offences and sentenced to undergo imprisonment of life, the statement added.
