Bangalore, Mar 22 (UNI) Karnataka Water Resources Minister K S Eswarappa today clarified in the State Assembly that there was no proposal before the government to change counsel F S Nariman who was fighting the state's case before the Krishna and Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunals.

Replying to a question raised by Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, he said the proceedings before the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) was in the final stages. Tamil Nadu had completed its final submissions and the same was in the final stage in the case of Karnataka. The Centre had extended the period of the CWDT till August five and the final award was expected before that, he added.

Earlier, the Congress members urged the state government to issue a letter immediately making its stand clear on continuing Mr Nariman's service for the state in the issue.
