Mysore, Mar 22 (UNI) Spice Telecom, cellular service providers in Karnataka, today announced that its customers could henceforth make STD calls across the country at an 'unbelievable' rate of just Rs one.

Spice Telecom Chief Operating Officer Navin Kaul, in a release here, said the drive behind the tariff was to give the best of the rates in the industry to its customers.

He said the offer was for Spice's both prepaid and postpaid customers. From a Spice phone to any other Spice phone, the charge would be just 30 paise, while it would be Rs one for a call made to any other phone, he added.

The company also announced an exclusive offer on SMS servics, proposing a charge of only 30 paise for every local or national SMS on a package involving Rs 49 monthly rental. The ISD rates would be charged at Rs 7.2 per minute.

Mr Kaul said the company's subscriber base had grown over the year to cross over a million in Karnataka and Punjab. In Karnataka alone, it covered over 60 towns and hundreds of villages, besides 18 of the 19 telecom district headquarters.

Spice telecom had tied up with over 44 roaming partners in India and 235 partners across the world to provide international roaming facilites to its customers in 123 countries.
