Saints' conclave to discuss Ganga pollution problem
Allahabad, Mar 22 (UNI) A saints' conclave to discuss Ganga water pollution problem will be held at Kanpur on March 29.
Akhara Parishad spokesman and Manasa Devi Trust president Ramanand Puri said yesterday that the saints from different parts of the country would ask the government to ensure clean water in Ganga before Ardhkumbha - scheduled at Allahabad in January and February next year.
''The issue of Ganga pollution is a cause of concern for the entire country,'' he observed adding if the river was not cleaned before the Ardhkumbh, the saints would be forced to boycott important bathing rituals including 'Shahi Snan'.
Mr Puri urged the government to check the flow of sewage and effluents in Ganga.
''Drains are still falling in the river without any check at different places,'' he said.
