Rift among Left parties over Polavaram issue

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of the CPI(M) today called upon people of Kammam and East Godavari districts to make the bandh success called by the party on March 24, to protest against the construction of Polavaram project on river Godavari.

Party state secretary B V Raghavulu, in a release here said nine agency mandals in both the districts would be submerged and several families would be displaced due to the construction of Polavaram project.

However, CPI state Secretary K Narayana told newsmen that the party was launching a signature campaign to support the construction of Polavaram project.
