New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) Punjab and Sindh Bank, a major nationalised bank today announced arrangements for direct tax collections from taxpayers.

Speaking to reporters here, spokesperson of the bank informed that 209 branches of the bank including all branches in Delhi and majority of its branches in Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Bhopal have been authorised for direct tax collections during March.

The bank has set up special counters in its authorised branches for the conveniences of taxpayers and has made arrangements to provide challan forms free of cost, said a release from the bank.

Since quoting of PAN/TAN ia mandatory, the bank has advised all taxpayers to fill in the name correctly at the stipulated places, in the challan forms and the taxpayers can also view the status of their tax payment challans with the bank on the web-site of the Income Tax Department, the release added.
