Panicker's translation work selected for Sahitya Akademi Award

New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) Malayalam writer T B Venugopala Panicker's translation of Thoppil Mohammed Meeran's Tamil novel ''Koonanthoppu'' has been selected for the Sahiyta Akademi Translation Prize, 2005, the Akademi announced today.

The award, which comprises Rs 20,000 and an engraved copper plaque, will be presented to Mr Panicker at a function at Bhopal on August 23.

Sahitya Akademi President Prof. Gopi Chand Narang approved the selection of the translated work on the basis of a recommendation by a Selection Committee comprising P. Madhavan Pillai, Dr Puthusseri Ramachandran and K. Kunhikrishnan.
