Our bowlers won the match for us: Flintoff
Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) England stand-in captain Andrew Flintoff today credited their victory over India in the third Test here to the bowlers who helped the visitors gain a sizeable first innings lead.
''The toss when India put us into bat was a bit of a bonus.
Andrew Strauss gave us a good start. Posting 400 in the first innings and especially the way we bowled to restrict India was the key,'' the Lancashire all-rounder said, addressing reporters after the match.
Flintoff was declared the-man-of-the-match as well as man-of -the-series, Meanwhile, Indian captain Rahul Dravid admitted that their plans of keeping the wickets intact and then making a late charge did not come of, because of the ''bizzare'' batting collapse.
''We got out to some bad shots,'' Dravid said, adding ''it was bizarre.'' ''We batted really poor after lunch. But, credit to England, they kept the pressure on us throughout the match,'' Dravid, for whom the 100th Test match proved to be a dampener, said.
He, however, praised the performance of the youngsters in the team. ''It is good to see the youngsters do well. They have shown great attitude and promise,'' the Indian captain said.
The two teams will now play in a seven-match one-day series beginning with the first in Delhi on March 28.
