Naidu, TDP members suspended for 2 days for obstructing proceedings
Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu along with all TDP members were suspended today for two days in wake of obstructing the proceedings of the House to revive a debate on the Sripadasagar project.
Soon after the House assembled this morning, TDP wanted a debate on the adjournment motion that the files relating to the Sripadasagar project be placed on the table of Speaker K R Suresh Reddy.
The Speaker, however, maintained that the issue was closed after a debate of over 16 hours and the government had even conceded the Opposition demand of placing the files pertaining to the project for their inspection.
The House, which had witnessed a 16-day marathon debate on Sripadasagar Project, once again plunged into pandemonium despite Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy conceding the Opposition demand after Chandrababu Naidu yesterday, admitted in the House that TDP had ''deliberately not given the exact project cost.'' Mr Naidu also said his party did not have the exact information about the project. While the Chief Minister accepted to place the files in the chambers of the Major Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah, the Opposition demanded the files be placed before the Speaker.
The CPI(I) CPI(M), TRS, AIMIM and BJP staged a walkout, protesting against the Government's refusal as well as its unilateral decision to suspend the Opposition without consulting anyone.
It was for the first time that Mr Naidu was suspended from the House.
BSP affiliated member L Rajarao also registered a strong protest against the Government for not taking the House into confidence, before suspending the Opposition members.
Janata Party floor leader K Ramulu announced walkout of his party, protesting against the behaviour of TDP for obstructing the proceedings of the House.
Meanwhile, Members of TDP staged dharna before the chambers of the Speaker after their suspension and raised slogans against the government.
