Man sentenced to 15-month RI for abducting teenage girl

Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) A local court sentenced a 25-year-old youth to 15-month rigorous imprisonment on the charge of kidnapping a teenage girl last year.

Pronouncing the judgement, Additional Sessions Judge K U Chandiwal held the accused guilty of kidnapping the 14-year-girl from her house on February two last year.

According to the prosecution, the accused had taken the abducted girl to Coimbatore. He was arrested four days later and the victim was brought back to Mumbai and reunited with her parents.

Although the girl had said she did not have any sexual intercourse with the accused, the doctors' report, however, said they had engaged in sexual intercourse.

Ten witnesses were examined in the case.
