Illegal mining: Cong stages walkout in K'taka Council

Bangalore, Mar 22 (UNI) The opposition Congress members today staged a walkout in the Karnataka Legislative Council protesting against the government's incomplete reply to illegal mining activities in the state.

When the issue was raised by K C Kondaiah (Congress) and others, Leader of the Opposition in the House H K Patil said the reply given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basavaraj Horatti on behalf of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was a piecemeal and did not contain any detail on the recent press statement made by Forest Minister C Chennigappa about looting of iron ore worth Rs 25,000 crore.

The Opposition members insisted that Mr Kumaraswamy give details about the measures taken in this regard. As they staged a walkout dissatisfied with the reply, Council Chairman V R Sudarshan adjourned the House for the day.
