HeidelbergCement forms JV with Indorama Cement
Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) HeidelbergCement of Germany today said it has concluded a 50:50 joint venture Indorama Cement which runs a 7,50,000-tonne capacity slag cement plant at Raigad, about 100 kms from here.
Located next to a steel plant of the Ispat group, Indorama has also direct access to blast furnace slag, which is an important factor for sustainable and cost-efficient cement production. The company also operates a terminal near the Mumbai harbour.
Indorama, which has planned construction of a clinker plant in Gujarat, has taken on board the representatives of the German company for the purpose, a company release said today.
'' The cement grinding plant in Mumbai is our entrance gate to India'', HeidelbergCement CMD Bernd Scheifele said, adding '' step by step, we intend to expand our activities in India is in line with our strategy to invest specifically in growth markets.'' UNI SA SKB1812
