Dist admin informs govt on tremor

Karur (Tamil Nadu), Mar 22: The Karur District administration had informed the Tamil Nadu Government and the meteorological department, Chennai about the reported slight tremor, which occurred in two villages in Karur District in Tamil Nadu, yesterday (Mar 21, 2006).

Talking to UNI District Collector A Karthik said revenue department officials were deputed to make an on-the-spot study about the tremor, experienced in Keppampatti and Pethankottai villages.

He said the damages are minimal and only cracks had occurred in a few houses.

Mr Karthik said had there been a tremor in the district, the mateorological department would have recorded it.

We are yet to receive any report from the department concerned, he added.
