Delhi's head honcho head Down Under

New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) Play time is study time for Delhi's politicians and bureaucrats Down Under.

Eager to study the game of managing athletes and officials from 71 countries, ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games here, they are heading to Melbourne to watch action on the sidelines of track and field.

Soon after the return of Lt Governor B L Joshi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has left for the Games' venue.

Additional Secretary Alka Diwan besides two of the 11 MLAs of a ''study committee'' of the state also accompanied the CM on the trip late last night, official sources said. Other MLAs on the team are leaving for Melbourne separately.

Ministers Haroon Yusuf and Arvinder Singh Lovely -- members of another committee approved by the Centre -- had left for Melbourne on Tuesday itself.

Ms Dikshit will receive the Commonwealth Games Flag at the closing ceremony on March 26. As the next host city for the Games, Delhi will present an 11-minute programme during the closing ceremony, showcasing Indian culture.

Earlier, Chief Secretary S Reghunathan and a host of DDA officials had accompanied the Lt Governor on his trip to Melbourne.
