DD to telecast live launch of Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service
New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) Doordarshan will telecast live the inaugural run of the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service, which will be flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday.
The event will be shown on the National Network on DD-1 and DD News Channel from 1000 hrs till its end.
The first bus from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan is scheduled to roll on March 28.
In January, India and Pakistan had decided to launch the bus service in deference to the sentiments of people of Punjab, who have been clamouring for a transport service to Nankana Sahib, the birth place of founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak.
A trial run of the service was conducted on January 27-28 and it was then decided that it would commence on March 10.
However, the bus service could not commence on March 10 as Pakistan informed that preparations for it had not been completed.
It was later agreed that the inaugural run from Amritsar would begin on March 24.
