Written by: Staff

New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) A delegation of the Communist Party of India today met Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken in connection with the ongoing demolitions in the Capital and the problems it was causing to the common man.

The delegation led by CPI secretary Amarjeet Kaur urged the minister to stop demolition in residential areas, hasten regularisation of unauthorised colonies and punish those invloved in grabbing land in connivance with corrupt officials.

Stressing that the demolitions were hurting the poor, those in the lower income group and the small shopkeepers the delegation demanded that mixed land use be permitted and those with shops on ground floor be given clearance for continuing their shops.

The delegation also demanded that laws related to building houses be made simpler to control corruption.
