Bihar an 'officer-deficit' state

Patna, Mar 22 (UNI) The Bihar government today admitted that it was facing shortage of officers and more than 300 posts were vacant in basic grade itself.

Replying to a starred question in the state legislative council, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav said the appointment of 184 deputy collectors would be made soon after the result of the competitive (limited) examination was declared.

He said the appointment of officers would bridge the gap prevailing in the government departments.

Earlier, to a short notice question, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Suchitra Sinha said ration cards would be distributed in all the districts soon on the basis of the 2001 census.

When the Opposition members started creating ruckus on the issue of blackmarketing of kerosene oil, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav intervened, saying the government would initiate suitable steps for checking the menace.

He said raids were being conducted at fair price shops, adding that the government had sent a proposal to the Centre to control the wholesale market of kerosene oil.
