Better coordination between state and railway police stressed

Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) A meeting of Police officers of State and Railways today stressed the need for better coordination for the smooth functioning of Railways in Andhra Pradesh.

The firest-ever meeting of state police and South Central Railway authorities held here discussed various security aspects in the wake of new threat perceptions.

Chaired by Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police Swranjit Sen, the meeting was attended by SCR general Manager G N Mathur and several top security officials of the railways.

A decision was taken at the meeting for close coordination between the police, railway police, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and other agencies concerned for the smooth functioning of the railways in the state.

It also took stock of all the past incidents and visualized the future security challenges. Other issues for which action was considered necessary in devising the clarity of role between the various agencies involved like standard operating procedures to meet any emergency situations, exchange of intelligence and training of staff, both Police and Railway, an official release said here.
