Modi urges Centre to create Indian Intelligence Security service

Gandhinagar, Mar 21 (UNI) The Gujarat Government has urged the Centre and the National Security Council to set up a nation-wide Indian Intelligence Security (IIS) service to strengthen intelligence network in the country in view of increasing terrorist activities, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said here today.

The Chief Minister Modi said the Centre should create a special cadre of IIS officers on the lines of IPS, IAS and others.

Mr Modi made the suggestion during the debate on calling attention motion moved by Congress MLA Dr C J Chavda in view of the gunning down of four Harkul-ul-Mujahideen terrorists by city crime branch sleuths in an encounter in Ahmedabad last week.

State Home Minister Amit Shah told the House that the police had executed the encounter well. The four terrorists killed in the encounter were Kashmiris. A crime branch officer was shot at the chest but survived since he was wearing a bullet-proof jacket, the Minister told the House.

He said the Home Department has decided to strengthen the intelligence network in the State also.
