Govt assures all possible help to poultry owners
Mumbai, Mar 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Finance Minister Jayant Patil today said a Cabinet sub-commitee is examining the issue regarding extension of financial assistance to poultry owners affected by the bird flu scare.
The sub committee is coordinating with Central government agencies in this regard, Mr Patil told the State legislature here today.
Mr Patil told the House that bird flu was first detected in Navapur taluka of Nandurbar district and later in Jalgaon district.
An amount of Rs 6.1 crore has been made available to extend assistance to the poutry owners, Mr Patil said while asserting that the government would extend all possible help to the poultries since a large population in the rural parts subsisted on this sector.
