Itanagar, Mar 19: The Arunachal unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Mar 19, 2006) urged the State Government to implement the centrally sponsored Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in letter and spirit for ensuring better connectivity to remote villages of the state.

The party in a communique alleged that state Rural Works Department (RWD) had prepared a number of PMGSY schemes against already existing and completed motorable roads, thereby siphoning off the developmental funds meant for the people.

Referring to the Border Road Task Force (BRTF) constructed road to Pango village from Yingkiong in Upper Siang district, which was completed during April 1997, the party alleged that the same road was refinanced under PMGSY during December, 2005.

The party further alleged that the BRTF road to Konkar village in the district during March 1997 was also refinanced under PMGSY during the last financial year. Moreover, road from Ranku to Kumku, road to Gossang village and the road to Nigging village which were completed during 1997 were also being refinanced under PMGSY during the last fiscal.

The party questioned the state government's commitment over implementation of PMGSY scheme in the state and demanded for its implementation in a holistic manner by giving priority to unconnected villages instead of siphoning off public funds without executing any works, the communique informed.
