CPI(M) holds emergency meet following Biswas illness
Kolkata, Mar 19: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) here held an emergency meeting this morning (Mar 19, 2006) to discuss situation following sudden illness of state secretary Anil Biswas who underwent a surgery after a cerebral attack last night.
Party sources said the meeting will also fix responsibilities for certain tasks which used to be delivered by Mr Biswas.
Mr Biswas fell ill before his scheduled departure for Malda for an election programme. His illness came as a jolt to the party as Assembly elections are due in the state next month.
Though Mr Biswas underwent a 'successful' surgery at a city nursing home, the attending doctors said he would be kept under observation for the next 72 hours.
