Naidu criticises UPA Government rule at the centre

Bangalore, Mar 12: In a scathing attack on United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government's rule, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu said that whatever steps, particularly on terrorism, it took had only created risks for the the country's security.

Mr Naidu addressing a party meeting here today (Mar 12, 2006) said that the increased terrorist attacks and its (Government's) soft stand had created a fear psyche in the minds of the people.

Stating that the UPA Government had failed in every aspects, he said that the party would launch yatras from Dwaraka and Puri from April 6 to highlight its divisive and vote bank politics, along with with the issue of visit of U S President George Bush.

"Congress was indulging in a divisive politics by asking for the headcounts in defence service on community line," he said.

Mr Naidu said that there would be big instability at the Centre after the coming assembly polls as all coalition partners in the UPA Government are on their way out making it more vulnerable.

He said that Congress did not know how to run a coalition Government for it was a compulsion and not a conviction to run it.

Regarding its alliance with JD (S) in the state, he said a coardination committiee would soon be set up.

He said that such a coordianation committee at the party level with the people in the Government would also be formed.

The new state president would be announced before March 17 as the present Chief Jagdish Shettar has been inducted in the ministry.

He also advised the ministers on how to run the coalition Government with a better coordination between the coalition partners and besides a maximum contact with the people to respond to their problems positively.
