V P Singh extends his support to agitating farmers

Pune, Mar 10 (UNI) Former prime minister V P Singh extended his support to the farmers of Maan village, who are agitating against the proposed land acquisition for phase-IV of the Hingewadi IT park, about 25 km from here.

Mr Singh, who is known as the supporter of farmers' causes, arrived here from Mumbai this morning after hearing the report of the police firing.

Mr Singh, who gave a patient hearing to the farmers' grievances, condemned the yesterday's firing incident and cautioned the police not to open fire on the farmers in future.
