UP council house on militants' hit list: Mulayam

Lucknow, Mar 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today disclosed that there was a terrorist threat to the Vidhan Bhawan building, which houses UP assembly and council besides other government departments.

Announcing this in the assembly during his budget reply, Mr Yadav said all necessary measures had been taken to ensure fool-proof security measures in the Vidhan Bhawan.

A meeting of senior police and civil officials was held yesterday to discuss the security measures following the threat perception,'' he said.

Mr Yadav said the shops near the Vidhan Bhawan would be vacated, while the roads would be made one-way under the changed security measures.

Meanwhile, security measures at the Vidhan Bhawan have been beefed up and policemen in plain clothes deployed at all corners of the edifice.
