UP assembly passes budget for 2006-07: Awards to cricketers
Lucknow, Mar 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today announced awards to the UP Ranji team and special prizes to Mohd Kaif, Suresh Raina, R P Singh and Piyush Chawla.
The state assembly also passed the budgetary allocation of over Rs 90,000 crore for the next fiscal alongwith appropriation bills.
Replying to the budget debate in assembly, Mr Yadav said it was a great honour for UP to win the Ranji Trophy title for the first time in 72 years.
''We will certainly honour the entire team alongwith players like Kaif, Raina, R P Singh and Chawla who were the main force behind this historic win,'' he added.
However, the CM did not announced the amount of awards.
Meanwhile on the demands of members, Mr Yadav said now each MLA would be given 200 handpumps and provided funds for electricification of 10 villages, and construction of seven kms of new roads in their constituencies.
The state government also hiked the session allowance to the secretariat employees from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500.
