UDF-AGP(P) fail to forge alliance

Guwahati, Mar 11 (UNI) The United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Asom Gana Parishad (P) have failed to forge an alliance, for the coming election, and both parties today declared their own candidates.

Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, who is the President of the AGP(P), released the first list of 25 candidates while UDF released names of 15 candidates.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr Mahanta said his party would play a key role in the government formation. UDF President Badaruddin Ajmal also expressed confidence and said that last minute discussion with the CPM were still on.
