Sinha lauds army for maintaining god Human Rights record

Jammu, Feb 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (RETD) S K Sinha today exhorted the indian army to maintain its unique and glorious human rights record, underlining itsheroic role during war and peace.

The record of our army in upholding human rights during anti-militancy operations has been much higher than that of any other army of the world, the governor said in an interaction with troops of the crossed swords division here and hoped that this would be maintained at all cost.

The governor made a special mention of various programmes taken up under civic action programme to ameliorate the lot of people, particularly those living in the border and remote areas and hoped that the army would carry forward its mission of winning hearts and minds of the people. The role of the army in snow tsunami and October-8 earthquake has been tremendous, he added.

Latter interacting with the students of army school he lauded the effort in imparting quality education to the youth and told them to aim high and face the competitive world with vigour and confidence.

In the era of knowledge explosion, the youth from Jammu and kashmir cannot lag behind their compatriots, he said.
