Pawar for reducing vanaspati imports from Nepal, Sri Lanka
Baramati, Mar 11 (UNI) The Union agriculture ministry has suggested to the commerce ministry to reduce the level of vanaspati imports from Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal as rising imports from these countries are adversely affecting the already-struggling Indian vanaspati industry.
Imports from thses three countries has resulted in nearly 82 per cent of the domestic vanaspati industry's capacity remaining unutilised, Mr Pawar told reporters here.
''Hence, there has to be some sort of quantitative restrictions on vanaspati imports from these countries,'' he said.
