Moscow, Mar 11 (UNI) Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel will participate in the two-day meet of G-8 (Group of Eight) Energy Ministers, scheduled to be held here from March 15.

Russia has invited India, China, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Energy Agency and the World Bank to attend the meeting.

It will finalise energy agenda for the summit to be attended by the head of states and governments of the G-8 countries in St Petersburg in mid-July, under the rotating presidency of Russia.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to attend the summit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier this week the meeting of Energy Ministers of the G-8 countries in Moscow will be an ''important stage'' as a prelude to the G-8 summit.

"This should be not simply a stage in the preparation of the summit, but the working out of actually final decisions by professionals," he said.

Deputy head of the Russian Federal Agency for Nuclear Power Sergei Antipov said Russia was working on proposals regarding fast neutron reactors and international uranium enrichment centres to be preesented duringthe July summit.

The grouping's Finance Ministers at their meeting in Moscow last month supported most of the Russian energy security initiatives, which will be high on the agenda of the summit.
