One killed, two injured in HP

Mandi, Mar 11 (UNI) One person was killed and two seriously injured in two separate road accidents in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hrs, police today said.

Gapia Ram was killed on the spot after he was run over by a speeding bus on Slapper Bridge near Dehar Power House in Sundernagar area of the district.

Police said the dead was a resident of Sarnu village in the district, adding that his body was handed over to his relatives after post mortem examination.

A case has been registered and investigations were on.

Police said two people riding a motorcycle were seriously injured after a jeep crashed into their vehicle at Harabagh near Sundernagar in the district.

The injured, identified as Raj Kumar and Manoj Kumar, have been admitted to a government hospital at Sundernagar.

According to a late report received here, 42 sheep and goats were killed, while the shepherds accompanying them had a miraculous escape after a lighting stuck in the remote Batwara panchayat of Sundernagar area on Thursday.

Official sources said revenue officials have rushed to the accident site to take stock of the situation and provide relief to the shepherds.
