Speaking to newspersons here, NISA Director PVK Reddy said NISA a premier training institution of the Central Industrial Security Force organises various disaster management courses for IPS officers and district level officers.
Mr Reddy said after the September 11 attack on World Trade Centre in the US, the dacademy has conducted multi-level agency coordination training, involving district collectors, district superintendents of police, district health officers, PWD officials and fire officers.
He said special training has been imparted to the 'first responders' to tackle any natural or man-made disasters.
Though terrorist attacks, ethnic violence and communal disturbance are not categorised under disaster, the police were given proper training to deald with any such situation, he added.
Mr Reddy said state police Greyhounds has also been trained at NISA to tackle the Varanasi-like situations.
Specialised training was also imparted to deal with hijacking and threat to nuclear installations, he added.
